Past CVLPOA Events:
The Coachella Valley Chapter, National Latino Peace Officers Association (CVLPOA) hosted its sixth annual College Scholarship Awards Luncheon event on May 13th at the Doral Desert Princess Resort in Cathedral City, CA. The 2011 College Scholarship Award event recognized exceptional local graduating high school students. This year, CVLPOA selected Cathedral City High School (CCHS) where three graduating students: Jonathan Figueroa, Stephanie Benitez, and Juan Carlos Flores; were recipients of $1,000 individual college scholarship awards. The Awards event also recognized outstanding students who have excelled as Air Force cadets in the challenging CCHS U.S. Air Force JROTC program: Joseph Fuentez, Robert Zarasua, Diego Gonzalez, Soloman Friese, and Stacie Navarro (U.S. Army ROTC). The CCHS Air Force JROTC Color Guard unit performed the Posting of Colors ceremony. Our event guest speaker was Stan Henry, current faculty member at College of the Desert and as the recently retired Chief of the Cathedral City Police Department. Also in attendance that presented the distinguished awards was CCPD Chief Kevin Conner and Instructor MSgt Winston Cagadas, USAF (Ret). Mr. Hernan Quintas with KUNA TV was also recognized as an Honorary Guest, acknowledged as one of our Hispanic Community Leaders.
